Plot

The series focuses on 16-year-old Ranma Saotome, a talented martial artist. His father, Genma Saotome, engaged him to one of the three daughters of his friend Sōun Tendō when he was still a small child, in order to ensure the continuation of the "anything is possible fighting school for fights of all kinds". The plot begins with his arrival at the Tendōs' and the announcement of the agreement. The choice ultimately falls on the youngest daughter, Akane Tendō. From then on, the Saotomes also live with the Tendōs, on whose property the said fighting school is also located. While the relationship between the two is extremely strained at the beginning and both reject the engagement, as the plot progresses they realize that they secretly have feelings for each other. The situation is made more difficult by the fact that Ranma, his father and other characters have fallen into enchanted springs and since then they have been cursed, which turns them into another form when they come into contact with cold water. Ranma turns into a girl (hence the name "1-of-2") and his father into a panda bear, and only hot water can reverse the effect. As the story progresses, more and more characters appear who have or want to build a relationship with Ranma or Akane, which means that the two are constantly involved in fights.
